Refunds, and what a refund does to tokens
A refund reverses the whole grant it paid for, including the part already spent. It does not delete the frames you developed, and it does not push your balance below zero.
A refund reverses the tokens that order granted — all of them, not just the unspent ones. The frames you already developed stay yours. Your balance does not go negative.
Those three sentences are the whole behaviour. The rest of this page is why each one is true, because the combination is unusual and worth understanding before you ask for one.
What happens the moment a refund lands
The payment provider tells us the payment was refunded. The house finds the lot that payment minted and writes a full negative entry against it.
Full, not partial. If a $40 pack granted 1,000 tokens and you had spent 300, the refund writes −1,000, not −700. Writing −700 would forgive the 300 you already turned into frames; writing −1,000 records what actually happened.
What it does not do
It does not take back your images. Nothing deletes a developed frame, and the spend records for those frames are left exactly as they were. You keep what you made.
It does not push your balance negative. A lot that has been fully clawed back contributes zero to your spendable balance — not a negative number. So a refund cannot leave you owing tokens, and it cannot block the next month's grant from being spendable.
The debt is recorded and auditable; it is not enforced against your future balance. That is a deliberate choice, and if it ever changes it will be announced rather than discovered.
It does not touch tokens from a different purchase. Only the lot that particular payment minted is reversed. A separate pack, an earlier month's grant and any trial tokens are untouched.
Which lot gets reversed
- A top-up pack — the lot that pack minted.
- A subscription payment — the grant for the live billing cycle. A lapsed cycle's lot has already expired and is worth nothing, so there is nothing there to reverse.
If a refund arrives and no matching lot can be found — an old payment, a cycle long since expired — the refund goes through as money and reverses no tokens. It is recorded either way.
Refunding the same payment twice does nothing twice
The reversal is keyed to the payment and the lot, so a provider re-sending the same refund notification writes nothing the second time. You cannot be double-clawed-back by a redelivery.
Asking for one
There is no self-serve refund button. Raise a ticket from inside the studio and say what you bought and why — it arrives with your plan, your balance and your recent activity attached, which is most of what the conversation needs.

Rollover, expiry, and which tokens go first
A monthly grant expires with its month, capped rollover aside. A top-up pack never expires. Spending always draws on whatever expires soonest, so the pack survives.
Invitations and invitation codes
