Running out of tokens mid-season

The develop is refused before it starts, never half-charged. Three ways back — a top-up pack that never expires, a plan change, or waiting for the next grant.

The develop is refused before it starts. If your balance will not cover the quote, nothing is held, nothing is charged and nothing half-develops. You get a refusal that names the number you need and the number you have.

Why it refuses rather than developing what it can

A run reserves every frame's tokens up front. If the house cannot reserve them all, it takes none — so you never end a session with three frames of a twelve-frame set and no way to finish it. Ordering half a lookbook is worse than ordering none.

What "balance" actually means

Your spendable balance is not a stored number. It is:

tokens still live in your lots − tokens currently held by develops in flight

Two consequences worth knowing:

  • A run in flight lowers your balance. Those tokens are held, not spent. If the run fails they come back — see a develop that failed.
  • An expired grant is simply gone from the sum. It is not deducted; it stops counting.

The three ways back

Buy a top-up pack. 250, 1,000 or 3,000 tokens, bought once, and they never expire. That is why they price above every plan's per-token rate — they are the overflow, not the deal. Available immediately after payment.

Change plan. Studio, Editorial and Couture grant 1,300 · 5,100 · 15,900 tokens a month. A plan is the cheaper token by a distance; a mid-season upgrade makes sense when the shortfall is going to repeat.

Wait for the grant. Your monthly grant lands at the start of the next period. If you were not at your plan's rollover cap, unspent tokens from this month carry into it.

Only an owner can buy

A top-up, a plan change and any purchase are owner-only — real money sits behind one seat on purpose. An admin or member who hits the wall can develop again the moment the owner tops up, but cannot top up themselves. See seats and roles.

Which tokens get spent first

Whatever expires soonest. This month's grant goes before a pack you bought in March, and a pack with no expiry is spent last. You cannot burn a never-expiring pack while an expiring grant is still sitting there — see rollover and expiry.
